Overview

Danny the goat lives in a pear orchard, but he hates pears. Too bad though, because that's all there is to eat. In protest, Danny decides to hide the pears wherever he can! Written by Emily Raymond and illustrated by her mother, Gail Streigle, Danny the Goat Does Not Like Pears tells the story of a goat who learns, that maybe, pears aren't so bad after all.

About the Author

Emily Anne Raymond studied English at the University of Connecticut, and wrote Danny the Goat Does Not Like Pears as part of a creative writing assignment. Feeling pleased with the work, she shared it with her mother and asked if she would like to illustrate it one day. Well, the illustrations came surprisingly fast and Danny the Goat Does Not Like Pears languished on the shelf for almost a decade. In the meantime, Emily did some writing here and there, had an essay published in Gina Barrecca's Fast Fierce Women, and eventually decided to pursue a career as a librarian, earning her Master's degree in Library and Information Science from Southern Connecticut State University. She lives in CT with her spouse and her cat.

Gail Streigle studied graphic design and illustration at the New England School of Art in Boston MA and at Paier School of Art in Hamden, CT. She has done illustrations for magazines and designed calendars and greeting cards for Derbyshire publishing. As Staff Artist for a printing form, he designed T-Shirts, mugs, and other specialty items as well as doing production work for screen printing. As a freelance artist, she has created business cards and advertising art, as well as taking private commissions. Every autumn, Gail can be found turning pumpkins and gourds into fanciful wizards, dragons, and storybook characters for her local library's children's department. Emily is her daughter.
